How it all began
The day that Burke and I first met, I fell and scraped my knuckles. It looked like I had punched a wall. Instead, I had drank one too many Fireball shooters and fell on the Big House bleachers while standing for the National Anthem—the story every girl imagines having to tell when meeting her future husband.
Since then, my knuckles have healed, but I was left with a tiny scar on my left ring finger from that day.
Despite this story being less than flattering and far from romantic, I’ve always thought that it was kind of symbolic of our relationship.
On the day we met, I fell. And since then, I have healed.
And now, when I look at my left ring finger, I see two things—a scar that shows how far we’ve come, and a ring that shows how far we’ll go.

The first time I met Ella my first thought was “Why is this girl even talking to me? Look at her,” because, obviously, she’s way better looking than I am.
Secondly, I thought that she was the most kind and genuine person. So naturally, I decided she could stick around for a while.
In all seriousness, the way I’m loved by Ella is a love I never thought to be possible, let alone deserved.
